David & Andrea Miliotis:

David & Andrea have been traveling regularly to the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute in Mysore, India since 1999 to study Ashtanga Yoga with their guru, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, and his grandson, R. Sharath, who have authorized them to teach this method of yoga. While in India, they also study Sanskrit and chanting with various pandits, in particular Dr. M.A. Jayashree and Lakshmish Bhat. From 2002 to 2007, they directed and taught a Mysore program at the Santa Barbara Yoga Center. They now live in Bend, Oregon where they own and direct Ashtanga Yoga Bend, a traditional Ashtanga Yoga school.

David began practicing and studying yoga in 1989 at the White Lotus Foundation, Santa Barbara, CA where he was first introduced to Ashtanga Yoga by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. In 1995, the teachings of Richard Freeman inspired a dedication to Ashtanga Yoga, which led David back to his guru, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. In addition to directing a daily Mysore program, he is the founder and executive director of Tapas Yoga Project, a program that brings Ashtanga Yoga to various ‘at risk’ populations.

Stacey Dawn Lee:

Stacey began studying yoga and philosophy in 1996, while attending UW-Eau Claire, earning a degree in psychology. After completing a teacher training at the Sivananda ashram in Grass Valley, CA and spending several years studying the Iyengar method with many senior teachers in the Midwest, she fell in love with the movement and grace of Ashtanga Yoga. In 2003 she completed a teacher training with Tim Miller in Vancouver, BC. In 2004 she travelled to Mysore, India to study with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois for the first time. Since then she has returned three times and has received his authorization to teach the traditional method. She gratefully thanks Guruji, Sharath, and Saraswati for their continuing dedication to this path to liberation.
